Common flat roof repair locations
Membrane seams can open when preparation, heat welding, adhesive, movement, or aging leaves a weak bond. Punctures often appear near mechanical equipment and service paths where tools, screws, sharp panels, or repeated foot traffic reach the surface. Small openings may admit more water than their size suggests because low-slope roofs drain slowly.
Curbs, pipes, supports, drains, scuppers, parapet walls, and inside corners demand shaped flashing. These details move differently from the open field and may rely on reinforced pieces or compatible accessories. An old bead of sealant at the edge is not the same as a sound membrane termination.
Perimeter metal receives strong wind pressure. Loose coping, failed edge attachment, or a separated membrane can let air and rain enter while the middle of the roof remains intact. Rhino checks the boundary as part of a repair survey instead of limiting the visit to the interior leak point.
